Tonia M. Spence, LCSW, MSEd, is an advocate, educator and clinician who has served children and families for the last 15 years. She currently is the Director of The Virginia and Leonard Marx Clinic Services at the Child Development Center of JBFCS. She holds a Masters in Special Education from Bank Street College of Education and a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work. She has been a middle school teacher in NYC public schools and a Special Education Itinerant Teacher for young children. Prior to accepting her current position, Ms. Spence was a part of the Faculty at the Yale Child Study Center where she served as a Clinician and supervisor in its Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic and spent the 2006-2007 year in the Post Graduate Fellowship Program.
Tonia devotes her time developing clinicians and advocating on behalf of families. In addition, she serves as Vice President of CUSSW’s Alumni Board and is a board member of New York Zero-to-Three.
