Book Party: Dance/Movement Therapy for Infants and Young Children with Medical Illness: Treating Somatic and Psychic Distress

This new book addresses how to support the baby and family through this vulnerable time, bridging infant mental health; infant and child psychiatry; nonverbal movement analysis; and dance/movement psychotherapy.  It explains how to help babies voice their experiences using their nonverbal cues and actions to create an embodied coherent narrative. Through an innovative lens using dance/movement psychotherapy Dr. Tortora and Dr. Keren address the psychic and somatic aspects of medical illness by providing a window into the young pediatric patient’s emotional “felt-story” within the context of treating the whole family system.

This is one of three important new additions to the literature in the 0-3 field that will be celebrated at a NYZTT sponsored book party on March 14, 2023. (details on the book party to follow on social media and our website).
