ILC/Policy Committee Updates

The ILC/Policy Committee has resumed its monthly meetings for the 2024-2025 year. We are happy to welcome two new members to our ranks. Together, our 10 members represent many sectors of the infancy movement in NY: Childcare, mental health, home visiting, community health, community planning and mobilization, early intervention, family literacy and parent partnerships, higher education, governance, and public policy. This is similar to the membership of local Infancy Leadership Circles in communities across the state. Not all of the coalitions who gather call themselves a "Circle", but they all are powered by the collective energy of cross- or trans-disciplinary collaboration.

This year, we will be sharing the national ZERO TO THREE State Policy Self-Assessment Tool as a framework for local Circles and Coalitions. They can use the tool on the local level to explore current effectiveness and set goals to tackle new aspects of community action. The self-assessment looks at 5 elements:

Comprehensive and Coordinated Systems

Data

Governance

Partnership with Families and Infant-Toddler Professionals

Workforce

Learn more about our work by connecting to the statewide Zoom calls for Infancy Leaders that we organize four times a year. Each call features a promising practice, a funding opportunity, and a research finding or scientific breakthrough that will benefit the infants, toddlers, and families in your community. There is time on the agenda for announcements and Policy Alerts. Stay tuned for our schedule of calls.
